As veterinarians we encounter a situation that is truly unique in the medical community. We are presented with patients that are ill, but cannot tell us about their illness. We have to rely on an owner or gaurdian that cares for our patients for important information. As a result, diagnostic tests are crucial to our diagnosis.
Diagnostic tests have been refined to the point that they allow us to get a clear picture of the inner workings of our pets. This has dramatically enhanced the diagnostic process, and even allowed us to check for diseases long before symptoms become apparent. Since many pets do not live long in relation to people, the ability to diagnose problems before they become firmly entrenched is an important axiom in how we care for pets at Suwanee Animal Hospital.
During your pet’s examination, the doctor will evaluate your pet’s current dental health condition and give you a dental estimate for any necessary procedures. If it is determined that a dental treatment is in order, we can schedule a dental cleaning and polishing. Anesthesia is required for this because your pet won’t hold still and open wide on command. While your pet is under anesthesia, we will also perform a thorough oral exam, take x-rays if required, and perform any additional services, such as extractions.
Most tests that our Doctors use can be performed in our in-hospital Laboratory. This gives immediate results, keeps the costs down, and greatly adds to convenience.
