Microchip Implant

Losing a pet and going through a long, unsuccessful search could be heartbreaking. Over the past few decades, different methods of keeping track of our furry friends have been developed. However, none of these traditional means of tracking pets is as reliable as microchipping. Collars and tags come off, and tattoos can be altered with ink, or eradicated completely with deep scarring. If you wish to increase your chances of recovering your pet in the event of loss, you should consider the fairly new microchipping procedure.

Microchipping is carried out in the same way as a vaccination. A tiny capsule, about the size of a grain of rice, is injected under the flap of skin on the back of the animal's neck. Veterinarians and shelters have scanners that read the digital number on the chip inside the capsule. If your pet is picked up as a stray after being microchipped, a quick phone call to the microchip company will provide the owner's contact information, and your pet will soon be home safe.

Home Again image A microchip is completely permanent. It can not be cut off or altered. If your pet is stolen or sold to a research facility, it will be returned. Research facilities will NOT take any animal that has either a tattoo or a microchip implanted.

We use the American Kennel Club microchip system to help permanently identify your pet through the largest nationally-recognized registry.
